My favorite way to stay active in the summer is to take advantage of the sunshine and go out hiking or kayaking. Embrace nature and all her glory!
ReplyDelete-Kerby, Roaming Gnomes
Walking outside with the dog. :)
ReplyDeleteAshley, Employee Health Ambassadors
I love being outdoors, in general. Playing with the dogs, kayaking, hiking, playing softball - all of it is a great way to keep positive energy flowing.
ReplyDeleteMary, Razing Weight
Swimming!
ReplyDelete-Kristan, this year, I swear
I enjoy swimming and helping coach my son's baseball team.
ReplyDelete-Dan, Booking It at the Library
I will keep walking -- and add even more now that it is getting light earlier in the morning. Early mornings are the best--very little traffic and the birds are just starting to wake up. - grace
ReplyDeleteI will stay active this summer by being outside. My husband and I like to go for walks with our dog. We also like playing catch in the back yard with her. We also have some active vacations planned that will involve a lot of walking. We have trips planned for Las Vegas and Alaska! -Kelly, Health Helpers 2
ReplyDeleteBiking, biking, biking
ReplyDeleteWalking outside, mowing the yard, doing gardening and yardwork. Just being outside and doing whatever I can to stay active. Even washing the car by hand.
ReplyDeleteBecky-Radon & Rollers
Bicycling, walking the dog and gardening! I have a good-sized garden for all the fresh veggies we can eat and grill, plus an asparagus patch, raspberrries and blueberries - that will keep me busy. Will be traveling to the southwest and hiking a lot, too!
ReplyDeleteKathy - PET Sounds
I will be competing in a triathlon this summer, running in a number of road races to prepare for a fall 1/2 marathon, riding a couple of days of RAGBRAI with my family and commuting by bike to work. Of course walking with my fabulous companion - Max (our family dog)
ReplyDeleteBrenda - UI College of Law
biking, running, walking, swiming, anything outside!!! Including chasing little ones around the yard:) Nicole - Maria's Minions
ReplyDeleteI've starting a walking group with folks in the building. We walk for 30 minutes over lunch. I'll also continue my Jazzercise classes and am participating in the Jazz it Off nutrition and support plan that runs for the next 12 weeks. It's going to be a great Summer.
ReplyDeleteApryl - Law
I signed up for a 1/2 marathon in October. I start training in May!
ReplyDeleteCathy - The Bod Squad
After the loooong winter, I'm so happy that spring is finally here and I can get out on my bike again! I plan to start back on my daily cycling trips on the Hoover Nature Trail from West Branch to Oasis (and beyond). It's so peaceful and beautiful--great for the body and mind. Lynn (Livin' La Vida Yoga)
ReplyDeleteI love to ride my bike, so I will be doing that to commute to/from work and for fun. My husband and I put in new landscaping in our front yard, so I will be gardening and doing a lot of yard work this summer. Also, I have a dog who loves to run, so my husband and I go rollerblading with her when we can. We also take her on hikes and go swimming! - Jessica, Honorables
ReplyDeleteBBQ is a great way to injoy the summer and eat healthy. Also, golfing and walking the 9 or 18 is a great way to get some needed walking in. Yard work is a must all summer. Maybe instead of the rider I will be using the push mower more. Taking a walk with my wife and 1 or 2 of our golden retrievers at a time. We raise them and they like going on walks with us around our pond. Jeff/Janice AggyIowa
ReplyDeleteWalking our dog. Anita/Fitt Fever 1
ReplyDeleteThis summer, I plan to keep walking. Also, I want to ride my bike as much as possible!
ReplyDeleteKelly, Calorie Kickers
My favorite summer pass time is staying fit with our grandson. Biking, walking, swimming. Five year olds like all these summertime activities. Grandparents win in fitness when you participate instead of just watching.
ReplyDeletePat -Best Eye Can Be
I plan to stay active this summer by biking on the trails and doing a new physical activity every week (kayaking, tennis, beach volleyball etc).
ReplyDeletePatsy (Avengers)
I plan to take my 2 boys for walks after work, spend time at the pool whenever possible, and keep up with the yard work.

ReplyDeleteSue, FordesAhead
I look forward to spending time at CRWC on the third floor using cardio and weight machines! Megan, 180 Express
ReplyDeleteI am continuing to train to compete in at least one 5K run this summer and one 10K run this fall in preparation for a mammoth 8-week retracing of the Pony Express route in the summer of 2015. The Pony Express event will cover 2,000 miles, 50 miles a day. I had hoped to compete in the LHI run in Hiawatha at the end of the 10-week challenge, but I got sick and needed to stop training. I resumed training 3 weeks ago. I will identify at least one 5K to participate in June or July and at least one 10K in September or October. My training regimen is 3 days of running a week using the 6 weeks to a 5K model provided on the LHI site and 2 days of cross-training a week, which is swimming for me. In addition, I want to compete in the Tropical Triatholon in 2015 as an individual. This year I competed as a member on a team. After I have reached the ability to do a 10K, I will insert bicycling into my routine once a week and reduce running to twice a week. This should support being able to compete in the Tropical Triathlon.
ReplyDeleteKaren from Dedicated, Creative, and Excited.
Particpating in the 'Bike to Work' week and working on incorporating more of that in my daily commute. Also, participate in a 5k & possibly a 10k race. I am also looking to do more yoga, especially experiencing it outdoors.
ReplyDeleteKathie-Do Some Pushups
I will continue ride the recumbant bike at the Campus Wellness and Recreation Center twice a week doing 25k each time. I will also bike outside and when I get a weekday off I will go on a walk with my mom and my niece.
ReplyDeleteCami (Touche)
I love to bike in the summer :) Courtney (No Rheum in our Pants)

ReplyDeletemaria -- maria's minions
I am planting an orchard and renovating the gardens at my new place. There is a woodland that needs some restoration work as well as plenty of work needed on the outbuildings. My daily walks over lunch at work and in the forests will continue. I am looking forward to building a large fenced vegetable garden. A friend and I recently purchased kayaks so there will be water activities to keep me from spending much time inside. On rainy days there are walls to be painted and boxes to be toted and sorted through. My housemate recently discovered geocaching so I suspect I will be in on a bit of that this season as well. We may just have to tune up the bicycles and see where all the nearby trails take us. I suspect that will be a good base along with my tai chi and occasional foray onto a dance floor.
ReplyDeleteMay you all have a healthy and joyful summer.

We are using phones, fitbits, etc. to track our steps and taking more stairs and longer routes to incorporate more activity into our day. I personally do easy exercises (squats, lunges, sit ups, jumping jacks, etc) while I watch TV in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteGia, Team FLASH
I am starting to do the T25 workouts and walking on my treadmill. I want to be in better shape and strong for golf this summer. Diane UI SDS

I love all the helpful tools available online to make my 10 weeks a success. My mind is adapting to everything I put in my mouth:) Healthy? Not Healthy? I'm just recovering from surgery so it's nice to have a exercise goal in mind that can get me stronger.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to stay active in the summer is to do outside yard work, from picking up sticks from the trees on our acreage, to gardening, to playing outside with our dog and walking him. I also enjoy canoeing which is a great way to keep those arms fit. Lastly, performing yoga is a favorite thing of mine to do year-round.
