DeleteAfter two years of near-total inactivity due to a badly broken leg I'm trying to increase my activity by walking my dog in the mornings and have actually made some steps into actually using my gym membership again!
ReplyDeleteThe FitBit Flex I got for Christmas has challenged me to hit my 10K steps a day. I am taking only the stairs at work (work on 5th floor!) and walking 15-20 minutes 3 times a day this week. Want to figure out some fun activities for weekends since I am home and not commuting to work by foot. Booking it at the Library II (Sara Riggs)

ReplyDeleteEvery morning I am up at 4:00 to workout and I use my Fitbit for motivation to walk at least 4 miles a day!

ReplyDeleteI just bought a YMCA membership today. I work from Des Moines so don't get to use the University of Iowa facilities. I also was gifted a Fitbit Flex so I'm going to start using that as well. Would love a lunch box to carry my lunch in for work- just started packing my own!
ReplyDeleteWe are planning on taking extra steps either in the office or in between caring for our patients. And we are working at motivating everyone on the team.
ReplyDeleteTeam TuTu Tastic has started doing physical activities on our morning and afternoon breaks. This is also helping each of us to "get away" from your work space for a few minutes every day!

ReplyDeleteI am on team Fight, Fight, Fight for Fitness. Some of us have Fitbits, so we have become Fitbit friends so we can challenge each other. I am trying to walk more and have downloaded the app couch to 5k to try to gradually start some running.

ReplyDeleteI bought a Scheels treadmill. The program I use is - 29 minutes brisk walking at 3.2 mph. I do this twice a day. WIVR-Stone - Dianna

ReplyDeleteMy office has a discussion every afternoon about how we plan to be active after work. Then in the morning we discuss whether or not we carried through on the plans
ReplyDeleteI am boxing/kickboxing 9 hours a week and I know my teammates are keeping up the pace with cardio and weight lifting as well. We are "Taking it to the Next Level" :)

ReplyDeleteOur team is getting together to walk stairs in Calvin Hall once or twice a day. I'm also trying to hit the CRWC at least 3 times a week to play basketball or ride the bikes.

ReplyDeleteOur department recently moved from a convenient area to walk long distances indoors at noon. Now we need to get creative when the weather isn't nice enough to walk outside. The stairs in our new building will be getting a work out, and so will I.

ReplyDeleteI am part of the Team Big Bleeders. My plans are to do at least 10,000 steps a day (easily done so far!), burn 300 calories by exercising and cutting 200 calories by adding more vegetable (easily done so far!) and eliminating low grade carbs (very difficult so far!).
ReplyDeleteTeam Itty Bitties are using the stairs more often for meetings and walking on our breaks. We have also purchased exercise equipment for our homes and office to keep active.

Our team, "Fight, Fight, Fight for Fitness" is enjoying a little friendly competition through the Fitbit "Weekday Hustle" challenge- team member that logs the most steps between Monday- Friday wins!

ReplyDeleteI have been attending group exercise classes at the CRWC over my lunch hours! Great work out to balance out the day.
ReplyDeleteI set a goal of 15,000 steps a day on my FitBit for five of the seven days last week, and I made it! Also, started the challenge off last week with my team with a healthy salad lunch and discussed our goals and encouraged everyone to get moving!!
ReplyDeleteI bought a treadmill at Play it Again sports. Empty nesting now, so put it in daughter's old bedroom, and watch Downton Abbey reruns so I get a good 40 minutes in without realizing it!

ReplyDeleteBought a treadmill from Play it Again sports- the guys there are really helpful and tailor it to your needs! Put it in the spare bedroom since we're new empty nesters and watch DVDs of Downton Abbey while walking so I get in 40 minutes without realizing it!
