It motivated me to fit exercise in to my life daily, not just every now and then. I have an elliptical machine which is how I get most of my exercise. I had been on level 3 for months, doing 30 minutes about 3x per week. By the end of this challenge, I was doing 45 min every single day, and up to level 11. I can tell I get up stairs with much more ease now, and I feel fitter, stronger, and my mood is better. Since doing that, I added strength exercises in and more stretching.
ReplyDeleteQuite frankly, I'm sad this is over.. I felt like it kept me accountable, and I wanted to do more and go further. I still plan to do so by having an app that will track my progress.
This was a huge personal victory for me, as I've never really stuck with exercise routines well. Being in the midst of a divorce and having the world turned upside down, ingraining this exercise into my daily life was the last thing I thought I could do.
I see so many runners and people at the gym and taking classes, and here I am just excited that I get my rear on my machine for a bit each night.
So, it may sound cheesy, but the consistent exercise... has helped save me from myself.
I liked the fact of logging my activity, it held me accountable also I was able to see a big picture of how much activity I was doing.

I loved being part of a team that motivated me to workout, watch what I ate and lose weight! I feel like working out and bring on a team with my co workers was even better because we see each other all week and eat lunch together , I am really happy I was asked to join live healthy Iowa and I look forward to doing it for many years to come!
ReplyDeleteThe No. 1 thing I accomplished was getting into a daily routine for exercise. The 10-week program also forces you to focus on things like walking from Point A to Point B rather than driving. This is the second year I have done the 10-week challenge and it is fun looking back at last year's journal entries and see how far I have progressed.

Learning to use the elevator less and take the stairs instead.
ReplyDeleteIncorporating small walks throughout the day makes it much easier to reach my daily step goal.

Started walking to and from my car (Finkbine). JOined Weight Watchers here at work. Having the team support was great! Life is crazy, but I learned I need to make time to be a Healthier ME!
ReplyDeleteAs a part of our team, I was motivated to watch what I eat more and up my exercising. I lost 6 pounds and dropped my BMI during the 10 weeks. Mary R - Psyched 4 Fitness
ReplyDeleteI feel that I have accomplished a lot these last ten weeks. The biggest accomplishment has been looking at snack food and asking myself am I eating because I am hungry or am I just bored/stressed. This has been a problem with me for a long time.

With three kids and a job, I think what I took away from the challenge this year is that exercise is important and not an indulgence. It can be hard to carve out time for exercise (and as a busy parent, it is easy to feel guilty about it), but it is worth it, not only for physical health but also for mental health. In fact, I noticed a difference in my outlook if I didn't get exercise a couple of times a week that was above and beyond my normal daily walk.

This is my first time participating in this program, and I really enjoyed it. what I realized is that even if I have such a busy life, it is very important to take care of my self and exercise, I feel stronger and happier. I eat much better, by cutting most of the junk out of my diet. every week when I entered my records I felt proud of myself. thanks for offering this program, and looking forward for more .
ReplyDeleteI was already exercising and trying to be healthier, but doing this challenge made me much more aware of how much I just sit at my desk. So, during the challenge I made more of an effort to do small things, like take the stairs at work sometimes, or take a break from sitting and walk around a bit. I also became more aware of what I was eating and started to pay more attention to the calories (and the quality of the calories) I was consuming. And now that the challenge is almost over, I have a few pounds, and I don't feel the urge to eat junk food as much. (Don't get me wrong: I still eat ice cream, but I try to limit things like that to a once or twice a week thing.)
ReplyDeleteThe challenge motivated me to exercise again! I stopped making excuses to do other things over my lunch hour and instead used the time to walk outside or go to the fitness facilities. Being part of a team also held me accountable to do well for them and myself. I look forward to being a part of the challenge again next year!

ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed the motivation my team has inspired to get moving again!
ReplyDeleteMy team inspired me. Logging activity helped me be accountable and stay active. Thank you! Mary Sleichter, Law-Less
ReplyDeleteI have lost 3 pounds, toned up, and have worked out at least 3 times each week. With my busy schedule, I'd say this was a pretty good kick start for me...I'll keep this challenge going!

I have been taking extra steps and walking more over break! I have been drinking more water daily! Am motivated to keep this up and keep going! :)

This program has helped me establish good eating habit and daily exercise. Logging daily activity was a good reminder for me. My group has encouraged me to live a healthy life style in many ways. Thank you! It has been fun!
ReplyDeleteI've been focusing on daily healthy habits to keep myself encouraged - increasing my water intake and getting my 10,000 steps. This was great way for me to re-evaluate and get a healthy lifestyle rebooted! :)

When I track my minutes, I am much more likely to fit in some exercise at least 5 times/week. It's primarily doggie walks, walking longer distances, or exercise bike. Even if I don't want to admit it, I feel better on days that I do something besides sitting at a computer all day or watching the 4000th episode of Law & Order for the 19th time. :) Still having trouble cutting backs on carbs, but doing well with lean or non-red meats and veggies. High School grapefruit has run out, so I am scrambling for some decent fruit. Oddly, I am doing much better at selecting stairwell more often than elevator.
Getting through the cloudy days of winter can be particularly difficult. Having the Live Healthy challenge helped me refocus and hold on. During a time of year I find myself adding pounds, I was able to drop a couple. Pat K. Best I Can Be
